However, Vivian knew that this was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Such street scenes were common in earlier eras.
"What would you like? I'll buy it for you," Manfred said when he saw the sparkling look in Vivian's eyes as she gazed around. She seemed intrigued by everything she saw.
Vivian shook her head and said, "I won't buy anything yet. I just want to look around first. By the way, don't talk to me too much. There are so many people here. They can't see me, but if you keep talking to someone invisible, they'll think you're strange."
Manfred smiled softly, his lips curving upward. "Alright," he replied.
He didn't care how others viewed him. To him, those unrelated people were nothing. If they thought he was odd, so be it.
After walking for a while, Vivian stopped in front of a pastry shop.
The pastries displayed there were so exquisite, and they were traditional desserts that were rarely seen in modern times. Even if they were available, they would never be this beautifully crafted, and their taste would surely not be as authentic.
Vivian swallowed and considered buying some, but then she thought of Manfred's situation.
She had wanted to ask about his recent circumstances on their carriage ride, but she had been so distracted by the idea of shopping.
These pastries looked expensive. The people coming in and out of the shop were dressed in fine fabrics, not ordinary folks wearing rough clothing.
"Would you like something? We can go in and pick a few," Manfred asked Vivian, then moved to take her into the pastry shop.
Vivian quietly asked, "Do you… have any money?"
Manfred paused for a moment, then understood why she was standing there unsure. She was worried that he might not have enough money.
He chuckled and replied softly, "I'm now the head of the Atkinson family, and I can buy whatever you want. Don't worry."
Vivian's face lit up, and she grinned. "Great! Then I won't hold back."
She stepped into the pastry shop eagerly.
It seemed that over the past two years, Manfred had gone through a lot and had changed greatly. He was a very different person now.
