The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 689

Ever since participating in the local Parent-Child event, Isaac and Daniel's relationship had grown noticeably closer.

Brittany had been collaborating actively with Wesley, gearing up for an upcoming bid.

She rallied her entire design team, pulling all-nighters for a week straight, in order to finalize the first draft.

Once the draft was handed to Wesley, they waited anxiously for his feedback.

Finally catching a break, Brittany chose to sleep in the office lounge instead of heading home, snoozing so soundly it was as if she'd blacked out.

When she woke up, she received a call from Wesley. He said, "I've looked through the draft. I've arranged a dinner with the bid committee tonight. We'll discuss the direction."

"All right."

Brittany was exhausted, but she was determined to win that project.

She headed back to her apartment at Radiant Residences, washing away the fatigue and changing into a dashing black and white ensemble. As she was leaving, Emily brought her a bowl of chicken soup.

"Ms. Dustin, you've barely been home this week. You're losing weight. Have some soup before you go."

"Emily, I have a dinner to attend."

She was running late.

"But that's why you need to have something in your stomach," Emily reassured her. "Don't worry. I'll have the driver take you. Just have some soup."

Not wanting to upset Emily, Brittany sat at the kitchen table and finished the bowl of chicken soup under her watchful gaze. Before she left, Brittany turned to Emily.

"Emily, thank you."

Emily smiled and responded, "Ms. Dustin, you better get going. Be careful on the road and don't drink too much."

After Brittany left, Emily called Isaac. “Yes, Ms. Dustin had the soup. She's lost weight, but she's holding up well."

Brittany was none the wiser.

Once in the car, she gave the driver the restaurant address and leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes for some quick rest.

Brittany followed Shona into the restaurant, one of the most upscale in Imperial City. The private rooms were understated yet luxurious.

Once they were in the room, Shona poured Brittany a cup of water. "Actually, I've been wanting to talk to you for a while, but I never had the chance."

Brittany accepted the water. "Ms. Bennett, are you referring to the incident five years ago?"

Shona smirked. "I know more about what happened five years ago than you do, Ms. Dustin. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

"There's nothing I want to know." Brittany shook her head.

Who was right or wrong five years prior didn't matter.

What mattered was that the pain she had experienced wouldn't just disappear because of a simple truth or anyone's words.

Shona felt a pang of sympathy for Isaac when she heard that. No wonder Brittany had been back for so long, and he still hadn't opened up about what happened five years before. It wasn't that he couldn't speak, but rather, Brittany simply didn't care about the truth of what had happened five years prior.

She didn't even care whether the engagement party five years before was real or fake.
