Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 1792

Sophie would never wear such an innocent expression; even when she just glanced your way, there was always a hint of mischief in her eyes.

By the time Odie snapped back to reality, his classmate had already whisked Sophie away, whispering, “Was that guy weird or what? He was staring at you the entire time.”

“Who are you calling weird?” Odie shot back, not one to let idle gossip slide.

The girl’s face fell, worried Odie might be some kind of nutcase. In their world, you never knew what kind of people you'd run into—rich kids weren’t exactly known for their sanity.

“Sorry, my friend wasn’t talking about you,” Sophie quickly interjected, stepping in front of her friend. Though she faced Odie, her eyes held a timidness that was completely uncharacteristic of her usual self.

Odie raised an eyebrow, teasingly asking, “Oh really? Besides me, was there anyone else staring at you?”

He leaned in a bit closer, and Sophie instinctively shut her eyes, looking genuinely scared.

Odie noticed this with a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. So easy to rattle? Who knew the Sophie from his dreams could be this timid?

“Do you know why I was staring at you?” he asked.

Sophie shook her head, eyes wide and innocent, like a freshman on their first day of college.

“Because…”

Odie leaned in even closer, almost brushing against her face.
