Colby moved closer to Sophie, whispering, “I know you’re tired, a lot has happened today. It’s okay, I’m here with you. Everything is over now.”
Sophie glanced at Gordon's indifferent profile, her mind filled with the gentle murmurs of the boy from her dreams.
At this point, Sophie knew all too well, even if she pressed on, she wouldn’t get the answers she sought.
“Maybe I’m just overthinking it.”
Her tone was flat.
Hearing Sophie say this, everyone visibly relaxed.
Yet, Colby knew Sophie wasn’t ready to give up on uncovering the truth.
Even if the truth was often brutally harsh.
“Ouch! Be gentle!”
Adler winced as Odie, lost in thought, poked him sharply.
Odie snapped back to reality, frowning. “C’mon, man up! Does it hurt that much? I’ve taken worse beatings without a peep!”
“You’ve got thick skin, I’m not used to roughing it, okay?”
“Say that again?”
“It’s you I’m talking about!”
“So, you wanna fight about it? You know I’ve always held back with you! You really think you're tougher?”
“Bring it on, who’s afraid?”

As Odie and Adler started bickering, Colby abruptly said, “It’s time to move on.”
“This path is so eerie, gives me the creeps. What were The Silent Shadows thinking…”
