It was already afternoon.
Sophie and Colby's car stopped just outside a secluded valley.
Gazing at the expanse before them, Sophie couldn’t help but recall the moment she and Jonah had ventured into the valley together.
That was only the day before yesterday.
Returning here now, Sophie still felt an uncontrollable shiver run through her body.
"Your injury hasn't healed; I can go in alone. Wait here for me."
Sophie shook her head, replying, "We agreed to go in together. Besides, it's not like we're going in to fight, it'll be fine."
Colby gently touched Sophie's head, saying, "Alright, we'll go in together."
Jenna had been brought here by Wesley, who clearly meant to lure them in.
Now that they were here, they were determined to enter together and rescue Jenna.
As evening approached, Sophie and Colby didn't dare waste any more time, quickly following the path they had studied before, making their way into the valley.
The map James had given them proved invaluable, and in less than half an hour, Sophie and Colby found an open space within the valley.
They now stood in the very heart of four towering mountains, surrounded by peaks, with a faint mist filling the valley, casting a somewhat oppressive atmosphere.
Out of the mist, figures in black cloaks and white masks slowly emerged.
Sophie stood behind Colby, their fingers interlocked, as they warily watched the crowd gradually approaching them.
These people, who might seem like inconsequential entrepreneurs in their everyday lives, now appeared as grim reapers wielding the power of life and death.
"We're here now, let your leader come out."
