Upon hearing this, Sophie was momentarily at a loss for words. Odie's smarts seemed to swing like a pendulum. Sometimes, Sophie thought Odie was sharp as a tack, while other times, she figured he was just faking it.
Colby seemed to have nailed it. Odie's long-standing dominance in Summerfield had a fair bit of luck sprinkled in.
Sophie remarked, "When you first ran into trouble, the Mintons put Harold in charge. But as it turns out, Harold was on our side. After Joseph's death, Harold passed the baton to you. But then, bam, The Silent Shadows snatched you up, and Summerfield turned into a whirlwind. At first glance, the Spellman family seemed to be having a field day, but oddly enough, the Gibbs family—who should've been right in the middle of it—didn't even get a scratch. Doesn't that strike you as weird?"
"Now that you mention it, it does add up," Odie admitted, leaning back against the headboard, lost in thought for a moment. "But the Gibbs family has always been a heavyweight in Summerfield."
"The Silent Shadows are masters at siphoning off big businesses to fuel their crew. Given how much clout the Gibbs family has, there's no way The Silent Shadows would pass up that kind of opportunity."
