In the Pollard family's overseas estate, Sandy couldn't believe her eyes as she stared at the front-page headline. A photo showed Colby at a hotel with another woman, leaving her absolutely stunned.
"Sandy, the maid mentioned you haven't been eating your breakfast properly. What's going on?" Kiran asked, bringing her breakfast into the room.
Sandy rushed over to him, thrusting her phone under his nose. "Brother, is this for real? Or is someone trying to set Colby up?"
Sandy had always been keenly aware of the bond between Colby and Sophie. With Kiran claiming the internet was down, she'd been offline for days, sensing something was amiss. Sure enough, as soon as she powered up her phone, it was flooded with alerts about a crisis in Sophie and Colby's marriage.
"Sandy, men are unreliable creatures. It's just infidelity; why are you so shocked?"
"But it's Colby! How could he cheat? Sure, any man might stray, but not Colby!"
Sandy was certain of Colby's love for Sophie and had faith in Sophie's judgment. "And what's this about emotional neglect? I've never even heard of that before."
Kiran knew his sister too well; she would always worry about others. He gently patted her head. "If you're so worried about Sophie, how about I let you go back to see her?"
Sandy eyed Kiran suspiciously. "What's with the sudden change of heart? I've been begging to visit them for days, and you wouldn't even let me out of my room. Why the sudden generosity?"
Kiran had been healing from a serious injury. Even though Colby's shot wasn't fatal, it had been severe enough. Despite his strength, Kiran wasn't invincible.
