Odie didn't wait for Sophie to get a word in before he turned on his heel and left her room. As the door clicked shut, Sophie heard the unmistakable sound of Odie locking it from the outside, even sliding the key into the keyhole. Her face fell. It was as if he was worried she'd make a run for it.

Meanwhile, outside in the corridor, Odie was striding along when Jonah caught up to him, offering a supportive arm. “Boss, what’s the plan with the overseas business?”

“Sophie wants to launch a nightclub to square off against The Silent Shadows, hoping to bait them into action,” Odie explained. “It’s a smart move; a new club could draw in a crowd and help us gather intel on The Silent Shadows. But she’s never run a club before. New venues are magnets for trouble and rivals might target them. Overseas, it’s even more chaotic. She’s not on speaking terms with Colby right now, and with their cold war, Colby can’t step in to sort things out for her. So, she can’t handle this by herself; it’s on us.”

Jonah nodded, taking in his boss’s reasoning. Though he hadn’t been a fan of Sophie at first, over time, he’d come to see her as someone who knew right from wrong and was genuinely kind-hearted.

Odie continued, “I remember the Mintons have quite a few folks in this line of work. Get in touch with them, pick some carefully, but make sure they’re our people, and they’ve got to be presentable.”

“Got it, boss, I’m on it.”

“Good,” Odie replied, satisfied.
