Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 1502

When Sophie saw Reece's name flash on her phone, she picked up the call.

Reece's anger practically leapt through the phone, his voice barely contained, "Sophie! You've got some explaining to do!"

His voice was so loud it was making the phone crackle. Sophie held it away from her ear, but it still felt like a drill.

"Reece, take a breath..."

"Take a breath? I sent you out to have some fun, and what do you do? You blow a million bucks at a club and suddenly you're the queen of the international party scene! Then you end up in a hotel with a male model? Have you lost your mind?"

Reece wasn’t one to lose his temper easily, so this was definitely serious.

Sophie rubbed her temples, trying to ease the tension. "I was just having a good time, nothing happened with the model."

Reece shot back, "You blow all that cash and share a room with a model, and now the gossip mills are in overdrive. Rumors are flying in Devonport that you and Colby are on the rocks. Coming back now would be like admitting guilt."

"It's not that big of a deal. I'm just exhausted. We'll talk when you're back."

With that, Sophie ended the call.

As they drove, Harold asked, "So, what's the deal with you and Reece?"

"It started as a debt, turned into a partnership, and now... I guess we're on the same creative wavelength."

"Well, he hit the nail on the head with one thing."

"Yeah? What's that?"

"You really have lost it."

"..."

Harold continued, "Sophie, you're not someone who loses her cool easily, but last night, I just can't wrap my head around it."

He added, "You better have a good reason for this, or I'm really gonna start thinking less of you."

Sophie stayed silent, watching the snow blanket the world outside. "The snow keeps falling, covering even the dirtiest roads in white. You think you're just seeing snow, but you can't see the road underneath."
