"It's not just like they're speeding; they're actually racing."
Hearing Colby's response, Sophie furrowed her brow and said, "That's reckless. Racing is illegal. What if someone gets hurt?"
Colby flashed a reassuring smile. "Relax, no one's getting hurt."
Sophie was about to say more but, glancing back, she noticed that while these folks were indeed racing, they were surprisingly courteous. Whenever they encountered other cars, they'd not only give way but also flash their lights in warning. Yet, as soon as they were among their own, it turned into a fierce competition.
Except for Odie, who was a bit of a rebel, everyone else stuck to the rules, showing off their driving skills without breaking the speed limit.
When they finally pulled up to Colby and Sophie's new place, what was usually a twenty-minute drive had been shaved down to thirteen minutes.
Sophie checked the time, then turned to see several cars smoothly sliding into parking spots.
"I'm first," Odie announced as he hopped out of his car.
Jenna climbed out of hers, retorting, "That's because you cheated!"
"There were no rules against cheating," Odie shrugged.
"You!"
Adler quickly stepped in to calm Jenna down. "Jenna, let it go. If we don't count Odie, you're the real winner."
Jenna pouted, clearly unsatisfied.
Elodie and Griffin also got out of their cars, followed by Harold, with Booker and the rest arriving last.
Once everyone was gathered, Jenna remarked, "Colby, when did you get Sophie such a huge mansion?"
Holding Sophie's hand, Colby replied, "This is our new home."
"Our new home... Wow, isn't it a bit much? We're crashing your place before you've even moved in."
