Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 1396

“Isn’t leaning on someone just another way of showing love? Anyway, I want to be with my brother every single day. I don’t want him marrying someone else.”

James chuckled at Sophie’s words. As the song came to an end, he gracefully stepped back from her.

“Well, let me be the first to congratulate you, Ms. Sophie, on your engagement. May it bring you lots of happiness.”

“Thank you, Mr. James.”

Sophie glanced around, trying to spot Gordon. When she finally saw him, she flashed a bright smile at James. “It was great chatting with you! You should drop by more often when you’re free. I’ve got to run now!”

“Sure thing.”

James watched as Sophie dashed away, suddenly feeling like his visit had been worthwhile.

“Brother!”

Sophie was running toward Gordon when a maid accidentally bumped into her, spilling red wine all over her dress. The glass shattered, and a shard nicked her shoulder.

“Ouch!” Sophie gasped, sucking in a breath.

A hazy voice, distant at first but growing clearer, echoed in her mind. It wasn’t quite real.

‘Sophie! Bro! Wake up! You both need to wake up!’

‘Sophie! Bro!’

“Ms. Sophie, are you okay?” The maid looked alarmed. “I-I’ll get you upstairs right away.”

“No, wait…” Sophie grabbed the maid’s arm, her voice tinged with anxiety. “Did you hear anything just now?”

“Hear what?” The maid looked confused.

“What sound?”
