Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 1337

Inside Lewis Corporation.

"James didn't lift a finger to help me! He's totally pretending to be on our side! Boss, today's fiasco is on him!" Claire pointed accusatorily at James.

James barely furrowed his brow, but it was enough to show his annoyance.

The man behind the desk, sharp in his suit and polished shoes, sat with a white mask hiding his face, emotions unreadable. In a deep voice, he asked, "Is that true?"

James, faced with the accusation, let out a cold chuckle. "These amateur moves can't topple Sophie's position in Devonport. With Colby and Gordon backing her, as long as they're around, Sophie's S Corporation is rock solid, a match for both you and me."

His eyes shifted to Claire. "Pardon my bluntness, but she's useless. Aside from looking a bit like Sophie, she's got nothing going for her."

"You!" Claire's eyes blazed with fury at James, ready to explode, but she held back because of the man beside her.

"James, you're still hung up on Sophie, aren't you? You couldn't bring yourself to go after her. How else would they have gotten my intel so fast? You must've leaked it!"

"Enough!" The man cut in sharply. "Claire, you're done here. Get out!"

His voice carried a natural authority that made Claire shiver. She could stir trouble in front of the boss, but when he spoke, she had to comply.

Suppressing her anger, Claire said, "Yes, boss," and walked out.

Now it was just the man and James in the office.

James looked at him. "If you doubt me, I can prove my loyalty."
