Chapter 95
Abigail got out of the taxi. Just as she reached the entrance of Halden Group, she spotted Ralph. She glanced at him once, then remained silent and e continued walking toward the building.
Ralph stepped forward to block her. “Abby, you must have heard about Stephen’s hit–and–run. It’s been widely talked about in the circle: I visited him yesterday, and he said with red eyes that he wants to see you.”
Abigail raised her eyes, her gaze cold as she said calmly, “What, does he want me to teach him how to survive in prison?”
Ralph was stunned for a moment by her words, then frowned and said, “He just said he wants to see you, and he told me he was wronged.”
Abigail was not surprised by this. She knew who the real hit–and–run culprit was and had solid evidence, but she simply didn’t want to waste time getting involved in the Gibson family’s affairs.
“If Stephen was wronged, you should tell the police or find a lawyer for him. I believe that with careful investigation, the real hit–and–run perpetrator will definitely be found,” Abigail said, then sidestepped Ralph.
Ralph immediately grabbed her wrist and stared intently at the frowning Abigail. “I don’t know why he insists on seeing you, but he said he hopes you can meet him no matter what.
“Abby, I know you hate the Gibson family, but Stephen was on your side regarding the Halden Group incident. He’s already regretted misunderstanding you. He also wants to make amends, but he didn’t expect to be framed. Can you just meet him?”
Abigail first realized that Ralph could be quite talkative. That was because it came to his good friend.
Back when she was imprisoned and told him she was wronged, he didn’t say a word. Even under the Gibson family’s unified story, he didn’t even doubt it and told her to reflect in her cell.
“What does the Gibson family say? Do they think he was wronged?” Abigail calmly pulled back her hand, her tone as indifferent as ever.
“Gabriel said it depends on the police investigation. I asked the police, and his car hit someone at 9:30 PM, but at that time, I clearly remember he phoned me that Christian had suddenly come home for Daniella,” Ralph said while observing Abigail’s expression.
Abigail’s demeanor remained unchanged, and she showed no reaction upon hearing this. Looking at Ralph, who was watching her, she asked softly, “And what about you?”
Ralph frowned and said solemnly, “I know Stevie well. Since he says he was wronged, there must be something hidden in this case, but he also said not to find a lawyer to defend him. I don’t understand.”
Abigail let out a cold snort. So Ralph had a brain. He believed there was a hidden truth because Stephen said he was wronged. But back then, when Abigail had begged him to believe her, he hadn’t trusted a single word.
Stephen looked at Abigail’s cold face and wanted to say something to lighten the vibe, but when he opened his mouth, he suddenly choked up. Seeing her again, he only felt guilty. Stephen lowered his head, his eyes filled with tears.
