Julie mocked Knox sarcastically. "Winnie's cousin is so useless," she thought.
Winnie might be from an ordinary family, but she was humble and down-to-earth. She would never do things to show off or to bring someone else down.
With such a comparison, Julie thought that Winnie was a much better person than Yolanda.
To her, poor people of wretched beginnings should just work diligently their whole lives for the second generation of rich families, like her. They shouldn't think of changing their lowly identities.
What Yolanda was doing was digging into Julie's every pet peeve.
Of course, Yolanda wouldn't care for Julie's thoughts. Her mocking and teasing were just white noise to Yolanda.
She hadn't noticed what Julie and the rest were saying at all, but Knox couldn't take it anymore. He retorted, "When we get top-grade gems, you'll regret it."
"Hah, so what if you do?" Edna was unfazed.
"You've bought so many boulders. If you don't even get at least one decent-quality gem in one of them, that would be abnormal. It'll be impossible for you to get your money's worth unless all of your boulders turn out to have Imperial Emerald-graded gemstones.
"You're just giving me all this money for nothing!"
Edna's words gave her employees the encouragement to smile arrogantly. They stood up tall and confidently as they waited for Knox to be humiliated.
As the first stone was cut open, the bystanders broke out in commotion.
"What a beautiful hue!"
"It's such a clear, translucent emerald! What grade is this?"
"It's AAA grade! It's an AAA-grade emerald with visible inclusions!"
AAA-grade gemstones with inclusions might not be worth as much when compared to flawless, full-clarity AAA-grade gemstones, but in an ordinary gemstone shop, AAA-grade gemstones with inclusions were already considered an elite variant.
