"He's also a special consultant for Cinnamine Pharmaceuticals. My father pulled some strings to get him here as he usually doesn't make house calls.
"He's been wanting to meet you about that formula. But since you weren't interested, he didn't push it."
"So that's Mr. Zimmerman." Yolanda nodded.
"He's not just a pharmaceutical expert. He's brilliant with toxicology too. If anyone can save Beatrice, it's him." Jeremy looked way more relaxed now that Hunter was here. He had faith in Hunter's skills.
The room fell silent as Hunter began his examination. Terrified of disturbing him, the doctors from the hospital hardly dared to breathe.
"How is it, Mr. Zimmerman?" Vic asked the moment Hunter finished checking Beatrice's pulse.
"Strange..." Hunter frowned without answering. He pulled out an acupuncture needle and inserted it into an acupoint on Beatrice's hand. When he removed it, the needle had turned black where it had penetrated.
"This is severe poisoning. Are you certain she only took contaminated supplements?"
"Yes. My mother is usually very careful about what she eats, but she loves buying random health supplements." Vic's expression was pained. "I couldn't stop her from buying them, but I always had them tested. I got careless this one time, and this happened."
"This doesn't add up… Even contaminated supplements shouldn't cause this level of toxicity. This formula would never have gotten FDA approval. It's not a supplement. It's poison!"
