"Money pales in comparison to your health. You're my only family, and I will find a way to help you recover no matter the cost!" Baxter exclaimed. He lamented his lack of skill in treating Kelly's mysterious illness.
"Grandpa, don't say that. You're getting older, so you should consider your retirement. And who says you have no one? Tina has been coming by to take care of me lately. You can leave the clinic to her, and she'll look after you in return," Kelly replied.
"Tina may seem close to us, but she's quite scheming," Baxter responded before he turned to explain to Yolanda and Zach.
"This is my granddaughter, Kelly Pattinson. Tina is a distant relative—her cousin. Kelly, your priority now is to rest and recuperate. I have my plans for everything else, so don't worry about it.
"Besides, don't underestimate Yolanda. Although she's young, her medical skills are quite impressive. I brought her here to treat you."
Kelly looked at Yolanda in shock. "Grandpa, did you say she's a doctor?"
Her surprise was understandable. Yolanda looked far too young to be taken seriously as a medical professional.
"Absolutely," Baxter said as if he'd forgotten his earlier doubts about Yolanda. "I've always taught you not to judge by appearances. Just because Dr. Henderson is young doesn't mean her skills are any less than mine."
Kelly was even more astonished by this revelation. However, her good upbringing prompted her to politely extend her hand to Yolanda. "Hello, Dr. Henderson. I'm Kelly."
Yolanda shook her hand warmly. "Let me examine your condition."
After she released Kelly's hand, she began to read her pulse.
Baxter watched anxiously, unable to contain himself after a full minute. "Dr. Henderson, how is my granddaughter doing?"
