"Darling…" Johnny grimaced in pain while clutching his knee as cold sweat trickled down his forehead. He glared at Yolanda and tried to comprehend how she managed to make Melina back down.
"Ms. Henderson, I admit my attitude was poor earlier. I apologize…"Melina forced a smile and approached Yolanda before bowing deeply in respect.
"Please don't hold a grudge against someone like me!"
Yolanda glanced at Sharon. "You should be apologizing to her."
Melina froze.
Apologizing to someone she had just humiliated was the last thing she wanted to do. However, she knew refusing to do so would mean further consequences for the Quinlan family.
She bit her lip hard enough to taste blood. Growing up, she had always been the one to humiliate others and was never the victim. She was indignant!
"What's wrong? Are you unwilling?"
Yolanda's smile faded, and her gaze grew cold.
"I won't force you if you refuse. You can just leave."
Melina remained still, realizing that Yolanda's invitation to leave wasn't a way to let her off the hook. She knew that if she walked out now, things would spiral out of control.
"Ms. Jones, I'm sorry!" After taking a deep breath, Melina finally lowered her head and bowed deeply before Sharon.
"I shouldn't have tried to take your boyfriend or called you a nouveau riche. I apologize!"
Melina's apology took Sharon aback, and she quickly glanced at Yolanda.
Just minutes ago, if someone had told her that Melina would apologize, she would have thought it ridiculous.
