When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 370

Dorothea gave him a quick nod. “Sorry. I lost my temper just now.”

“But if you hadn’t stopped to talk to me that day, Latham wouldn’t be in this mess.”

“I don’t need your help. You can go ahead and catch your flight.”

Albert just stood there, staring down at the plane ticket in his hand. He let out a bitter laugh, then tossed the ticket into the trash can beside him.

Dorothea grabbed Mamie’s hand. Instead of returning to the Stephens Estate, she changed course and headed straight for the Carter home.

Mamie had never seen her act so out of control before. “Dorothea, we can deal with them later. You’re pregnant. Don’t get so worked up, it’s not good for you or the baby.”

Dorothea felt icy inside, her whole body tense. She just needed to see Latham, and fast.

“Mamie, am I just useless? Is it really my fault? Maybe I’m just bad luck.”

Mamie wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “Don’t talk like that. None of this is your fault. Don’t let their mistakes become your punishment. Trust me, Scott will bring Latham back safe.”

When they reached the Carter house, everyone was already in bed. It just so happened Alfonso was staying over that night too.

At eleven, the sound of loud knocking echoed through the house.

Alfonso woke up, frowning at the noise. “Who’s out there at this hour?”

He threw on a jacket and went to the window, then did a double take when he recognized Dorothea outside.

He hurried downstairs and opened the door, surprised to see her standing there, looking furious. “Dorothea? What’s going on?”

Dorothea’s stare was ice-cold. “Do you know where Walton is?”
