When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 363

Five days after the funeral, Carmen’s wedding finally arrived. She was Dorothea’s best friend, so missing out on being her bridesmaid felt like the biggest regret. Even Scott and Mamie had gotten an invitation, since Scott and Pearson knew each other pretty well.

Carmen knew Dorothea had just lost her mom, so she’d hesitated to invite her to the bachelorette party, worried it might be too much. But Latham had insisted she should get out for a while and try to relax. As long as Dorothea and the baby stayed safe, he was all for it. He even dropped her off at the private room himself. Pearson was just next door, which made Latham feel better about leaving her there. The whole club belonged to The Stephens Group. With that sort of connection, Latham knew nobody would dare make trouble for his wife.

“Dorothea, you made it!” Carmen called out as soon as she saw her, her speech a little slurred. “Latham, don’t worry, I promise to take good care of her. Not even a hair out of place. I’m your baby’s godmother, remember?”

Dorothea laughed and shook her head. “You’ve had how many drinks now? Already tipsy?”

Carmen’s cheeks were glowing pink. She looked cute and cheerful. “No, really, I can drink way more. I’m completely fine.”

As soon as Latham left, Carmen dove right into her grievances about Pearson.

“Dorothea, you have to help me figure out how to mess with Pearson tomorrow. He cannot think marrying me is going to be that easy.”

The group started brainstorming ways to make the door games especially tough on him.

One of the bridesmaids suggested, “Let Pearson do push-ups while he lists all your best qualities.”

Carmen waved her hand. “No, no, that’s too easy.”

“Wait, I saw something online. There’s this twerking game... Tie boxes full of ping-pong balls to the guys’ waists, and the groom and his groomsmen have to shake all the balls out before he can pick up the bride.”

Dorothea couldn’t help rubbing her temples. She pictured Pearson twerking. That was almost too much to imagine.

Carmen clapped her hands in delight. “Yes, that’s perfect, I love that one.”

Another bridesmaid grinned, “Or the blindfolded lipstick challenge. Make the groom apply lipstick to a groomsman—using only his mouth and completely blindfolded.”

Dorothea had to laugh at that. “Carmen, do you even know all your husband’s groomsmen?”

Carmen thought for a second. “I know his cousin Wade is one of them. The others... I’ve seen them, I just can’t remember their names.”

Next door, Latham walked into the guys’ room. Pearson lounged back on the couch, looking completely relaxed. Latham raised an eyebrow, just a hint of a smirk.

“Your wife’s over there plotting how to prank you.”
