In the bathroom, Madeline let the hot water wash over her, trying to clear her mind. The woman who looked just like her wanted to take her place, take her life, take everything she had. She let out a breath. “Thank you.”

Julian reached for the door, but Madeline stepped in front of him. She was only wearing a bathrobe, and she felt completely exposed.

Julian gave a tired smile. “Let me in.”
