When Helene suddenly screamed Madeline’s name, Lucy thought help had finally come. She pushed herself up off the ground with shaky hands.

Claire knelt down beside her, offering a steadying arm.

Lucy was still rattled, her hand instinctively going to the throbbing pain on the back of her head. She looked at ‘Madeline,’ relief flooding her face. “Madeline, thank God you’re here. Are you okay?”

Claire gave her a small, almost gentle smile. “I’m fine. But you… not so much.”

Lucy blinked, confused. “What do you mean?”

“Exactly what I said.”

Lucy hadn’t even processed the words before she felt sudden, stabbing pain. Her whole body jerked.

She looked down, her breath catching when she saw the knife buried in her stomach. The agony spread out in waves.

Her eyes went up to the woman in front of her, searching for answers through the pain. “Why? Madeline… why are you doing this?”

“Mrs. Grayson, you almost killed my child before. Isn’t it only fair I get revenge for my own?” Claire replied, using Madeline’s voice and words so perfectly it was chilling.

Lucy’s body trembled, her face twisted in regret and suffering. “I was wrong about you. I really… I really was…”

Claire’s smile never wavered. “You deserve this.”

With that, she shoved Lucy back onto the ground. Claire just watched, cold and silent, thinking, This is all for my plan. Sorry, but you have to go.

She bent down, carefully wiped her fingerprints off the knife, and checked the area. No security cameras anywhere. That was a relief. She glanced at Helene, who was still conscious and had seen everything.

Claire smiled again, then knocked Helene out for good. Helene slumped to the floor, finally unconscious.

Meanwhile, Madeline was watching security footage. She spotted Helene pushing Lucy toward the empty buildings at the back.

She didn’t waste a second. She grabbed a security guard to help her search.
