Lucy glanced at Courtney and Bill, wiping away the tears that clung to her lashes. “Take the boys upstairs,” she said quietly.
Once Oliver and Noah were out of sight, Lucy’s entire demeanor shifted. Her face turned cold, and she jerked her arm out of Courtney’s hand. Even before she realized the boys were her grandsons, she had thought Helene’s actions were unforgivable. Now, knowing the truth, her anger was ten times worse. Helene had almost killed her own grandsons. The thought made Lucy’s blood run cold. She was vicious. She didn’t deserve mercy. And now, just to get rid of Madeline, Helene had nearly dragged Julian down with her.
“Get out,” Lucy said, voice sharp as glass as she pointed at the door. “Your daughter hurt my grandsons and almost got my son killed. And you have the nerve to mention her in front of me? Courtney, if you can’t control your daughter, someone else will.”
“No, Lucy, please, listen to me,” Courtney begged, her voice trembling. “Helene is just young and reckless. She never meant to hurt Julian. She only wanted revenge on Madeline, that’s all. Please, for the sake of our families’ long history together, spare her. I’m begging you.”
Courtney bent over, sobbing so hard she could barely speak. She had no idea what Julian might do to Helene now.
“You’re worried about your daughter? I’m worried about my son, my grandsons. Get out! Just leave!” Lucy shouted, her patience gone.
Courtney kept pleading, but Bill could see there was no hope for negotiation. Without Christian’s help, nothing they said would matter. At that moment, Julian appeared in the doorway. His face was set in stone, cold and unreadable. Bill started to say something, but Julian’s icy stare shut him up.
“Get them out of here,” Julian said, his voice low and commanding as he walked past.
The Grayson bodyguards moved in immediately. Courtney backed into Bill’s arms, covering her mouth as tears streamed down her face. She looked at Lucy one last time, eyes full of desperate hope, but Lucy just turned away.
There was no changing her mind.
