Josh was just calling it like he saw it. Honestly, it wasn’t out of the question.
Julian clenched his jaw, his eyes turning icy. The idea of Madeline ending up as someone else’s wife, raising his kid with another man, made his blood boil.
“If you don’t step in soon, Julian, your wife’s going to be someone else’s,” Josh muttered.
Madeline glanced over at the three tall men whispering in the corner of the hospital room. It was so quiet that, even though they tried keeping their voices down, she could still catch bits and pieces.
…
Miles worked fast. The news about the Grayson and Fortner families breaking off the engagement spread quickly, causing a stir everywhere.
Josh scrolled through the latest Grayson Enterprises update on his phone and let out a low whistle. “Damn, Julian, you don’t waste any time.”
“What is it? Let me see.” Brady leaned in, eyes widening as he read. “Wow. Helene must be losing it. Julian, isn’t your grandpa going to be pissed?”
Before Julian could answer, someone shouted in the hallway, “Someone’s about to jump from the roof!”
“What? Jumping? Who?”
“Pretty sure it’s the patient from the room down the hall.”
Madeline heard the anxious voices outside and frowned. The patient from the next room… Wasn’t that Helene?
If she figured it out, Julian definitely did too.
