Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 318

Julian glared at the woman in front of him, anger flickering in his eyes. Madeline calmly lifted her hand and pried his fingers off her arm, one by one, before shoving him away.

“She hates me. Isn’t it obvious she’d try to pin the blame on me?”

Julian had heard this excuse before. Helene used to say the same thing. Every time trouble came up, Helene would play the victim.

“Mr. Grayson, instead of wasting your time here, why not find some real evidence before you try to blame me?”

Julian let out a cold laugh, no humor in it at all. Evidence? As if that mattered. When enough people believed a lie, it became the truth.

Frustration simmered inside him. He stared at the girl in front of him, his eyes icy. “Some things don’t need proof. If people believe it, that’s all it takes.”

Helene had the Fortner family behind her, not to mention Julian’s grandfather himself. People took her at her word. Now that Madeline had gone after her, the Fortners would never let it slide, and neither would his grandfather.

“You’re right. If people believe it, that’s all the proof anyone needs. So what now? You believe her? Are you going to take her side, go after me for her?”

Madeline stood tall, her eyes never leaving his face.

“Do you really think I’m your biggest problem? It’s the Fortner family. They won’t stop until they destroy you.”

Madeline clenched her teeth, her eyes full of bitterness.

They won’t let her go? When had they ever let her go?
