Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 307

Julian’s eyes drifted back to her, landing on a faint scar at the small of her back. He stared for a few seconds, eyes narrowing, before finally looking away.

It took more than an hour for the doctor to finish treating all her wounds. By the end, even the doctor was drenched in sweat. Julian had Miles bring over some fresh, loose clothes, and he helped Madeline get dressed himself. His long fingers moved quietly as he buttoned her shirt, his voice flat and emotionless. “How did you get that scar on your lower back?”

Madeline’s lashes fluttered. She paused for a second, then answered in a quiet, shaky voice, “A long time ago. I got hurt by accident.”

The doctor, busy packing up her things, glanced up with a conflicted look. It was obvious to her that the scar had come from surgery, but since Madeline wanted to brush it off, she didn’t press the issue.

Julian arranged for a room so Madeline could rest, but she refused. He frowned, his expression darkening, almost stormy. “There are doctors and nurses with Noah. You can’t go in there and take care of him yourself. You need to get some rest before ending up in the hospital too.”

Before Madeline could answer, Miles rushed over, phone in hand. “Sir, we caught those assassins.”

The killers had stolen a car usually used by the Grayson family’s staff and snuck onto the property. Getting in was much easier than getting out. The moment Julian heard about the attack, he ordered every exit sealed. The assassins tried hiding, planning to slip out in the middle of the night. What they didn’t expect was that Julian had already stationed guards everywhere. As soon as they made a move, they were caught.

Julian’s jaw tightened, his gaze sharp. “Did they confess?”

Miles shook his head. “They’re tough. They’d rather die than talk.”

Making them speak wasn’t going to be easy. They had their own code. If they gave up the person who hired them, their families would be in danger. Even if they died, their organization would go after their loved ones. So they’d rather stay silent.

Julian’s hand curled into a tight fist. “Do whatever it takes to make them talk.”
