Too Late Mr. White! I'm Married To Your Rival Now novel Chapter 240

Aria's POV

Aiden didn't finish his sentence, just gave a soft chuckle that tickled across my nerves like feathers brushing against my most sensitive spots.

My body instantly responded, a familiar warmth spreading through me.

I turned my head to look at him, curiosity making me blink. "What are you thinking about?"

"Wondering what it would look like when Mr. and Mrs. Carter kiss," he murmured, his voice dropping to that deep register that always made my thighs clench.

"..."

I felt heat rush to my cheeks. "The internet just loves saying stuff like that. Don't take it seriously."

"But what about when they say we're perfect for each other?"

I stole a glance at him, biting my lower lip as I tried to sound casual. "Well, we are pretty damn perfect together, aren't we?"

As soon as the words left my mouth, embarrassment washed over me. I couldn't help covering my face with my hand.

Then I realized covering up only made it more obvious how affected I was. My face burned hotter.

I looked away, desperately trying to distract myself from my own awkwardness.

Just then, my phone buzzed against my thigh.

I glanced down instinctively and saw a message from Claire. She'd sent a flood of designer handbag pictures that confused me at first. After scrolling through them all, I saw her follow-up text: Which ones do you like, honey?

Seeing this, I immediately understood what Claire was doing.

I grimaced and glanced at Aiden, thoroughly puzzled. "Is Claire always this obsessed with giving people gifts?"

Hearing my question, Aiden's brow creased slightly. "She probably has too much time on her hands."

When I didn't respond to her message, Claire sent more photos.

This time featuring luxury speedboats with the message: Which one do you want, babe? Aiden bought you a speedboat, so I can't be outdone! Tell me which one you like!

I felt completely overwhelmed by Claire's persistence and turned to Aiden for help. "How am I supposed to respond to this?"

I really wasn't comfortable accepting such expensive gifts.

"Give me your phone for a second."

Without hesitation, I handed it over.

To my surprise, Aiden immediately sent Claire a voice message: "Claire, you're interrupting us."

Claire: ...

Me: "..."

"There. Fixed it."

Aiden handed the phone back to me.

I took it back awkwardly, momentarily unsure whether Claire or Aiden was being more outrageous.

"Just browse social media. I'll check the news," he said.

His words finally allowed me to relax my tense shoulders.

Though I avoided looking at trending topics about myself, I scrolled through the feed until I found an adorable cat video. Instinctively wanting to share it with Aiden, I turned toward him but lost my balance, tumbling right onto his lap.

"Is Mrs. Carter throwing herself at me?" His voice held a teasing edge.

"I didn't do it on purpose," I explained, my face flushing.

As I tried to push myself back up, my hand accidentally pressed against the soft flesh at his waist. In the next moment, his fingers wrapped firmly around my wrist.

I looked up, meeting his intense dark gaze. My heart raced wildly against my ribs.

The bright ceiling light illuminated his face, making those dark eyes seem both deep and bright as they fixed on me.

I suddenly remembered a comment I'd just read online: "OMG, when Mr. Carter looks at his wife, there are literal stars in his eyes!"

Without thinking, the words tumbled from my lips: "Do you want to kiss me, Aiden?"
