Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 33

The conversation with Aiden went wonderfully.

Liliana's mood had been dreadful lately.

Even with the spa treatment and meticulously applied makeup, a faint trace of weariness still clung to her features.

Aiden seemed to notice she wasn't doing well. He didn't press for details, instead steering the conversation to fond memories of their school days, doing his best to make her laugh.

As the night deepened, Aiden looked at her with a soft smile. “It’s getting late,” he said gently.

“Let me give you a ride home.”

“Okay, thank you, Aiden.” Liliana didn’t refuse. She had always been on good terms with him, and declining his offer now would feel forced and insincere.

Liliana picked up her purse and was about to stand when her gaze drifted toward the restaurant's entrance. Her eyes inadvertently caught a familiar, tall figure pushing through the doors.

Linton was walking in with a middle-aged man in a suit, followed by a beaming Isabella.

Liliana paused. It was already ten o'clock at night. To be at this restaurant at this hour could only mean a business dinner.

“Mr. Cole, Mr. Cooper, this way, please.” The host at the door bowed with a smile, gesturing for them to follow.

Hearing the names, Liliana calmly retracted her gaze. Her face was a mask of indifference, her heart a placid lake. It was the stillness that comes after a storm, the quiet of a heart that had given up.

Liliana smiled at Aiden. “Let’s go.”

Aiden raised an eyebrow, a gentle smile playing on his lips. His sharp, intelligent eyes, hidden behind the gold-rimmed glasses, flickered for a moment, but he said nothing. He had seen Linton too. And not just him, but he’d also recognized Isabella trailing behind.

Aiden knew of Linton. Back in school, Liliana's favorite topic of conversation with her classmates was her childhood sweetheart. She had talked about him so much their ears had practically gone numb; it was impossible not to have a strong impression.
