Sebastian stared, his jaw dropping open in disbelief. Holy hell. When had Linton become so indulgent toward Liliana? Indulgent enough to break his own rules for her.
Linton ignored the shocked and confused stares from around the room. He straightened up slightly, his narrow eyes squinting as he took a final, deep drag from his cigarette. He then exhaled slowly, pinching the butt between his fingers.
Through the smoke, his gaze fixed on Liliana’s stunning, captivating face. His cool voice was low, tinged with a hint of amusement that was hard to decipher.
"Yes."
Liliana smiled.
"And you refused to break it off because you have feelings for me, because you can't live without me, right?"
Liliana had just broken the rules of the game by asking a second question, but Linton didn't stop her or point it out. No one else dared to speak up and shatter the tense standoff between them. Linton’s cool eyes remained locked on her. If she wanted to play, he would play along to the very end.
His cool voice was now laced with a playful, enigmatic tone, making it impossible to tell if he was being serious or just joking.
"Yes."
Isabella’s hand clenched into a fist, her expression turning ugly. Liliana pressed on.
"You've been emotionally cheating for a long time. You have two people in your heart. You're greedy, and you lie to yourself, pretending Isabella is just a sister when in reality you want both of us. You want to have your cake and eat it too, don't you?"
This time, the onlookers held their breath. They were terrified, wishing they could get up and run. This was beyond awkward; this was hell. Linton pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek, his eyes downcast, his expression was hard to read.
Seconds ticked by.
