Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 10

Just as Liliana turned to leave, a strong hand grabbed her slender wrist. Linton pulled her into his arms, his sharp brows knitted together in thought, trying to figure out how to calm her down. After a moment, his voice, cool and crisp, finally broke the silence. “Liliana, stop this.”

“I’ll take responsibility for you.”

Liliana, who had been struggling against his hold, froze at his words. She knew what he was talking about: that one reckless night a month ago. He knew she had drugged him. But instead of being angry, he was saying he would take responsibility. The old Liliana would have been ecstatic. But it was too late. She didn't need it anymore.

Her face hardened, her delicate brows furrowing as she tried to break free from his strong embrace. “Let go. I don’t need your cheap sense of duty.”

“If you’ve got so much responsibility to spare, why don’t you give it to your dear sister? Give her the perfect family she deserves!”

Liliana meant it. It was her sincere wish for him. But to Linton’s ears, it sounded like she was still just lashing out in anger. With the cigarette still between his lips, he let out a weary sigh. His large hand tightened around her struggling arm as he tilted her chin up, forcing her to look at him.

“Liliana, don’t be ridiculous.” Linton’s eyes were sharp and cold, a hint of anger simmering beneath the surface. Liliana knew his patience was wearing thin. Linton did not, in fact, have a good temper. Of all the Coopers, he was the most difficult to please. But she wasn't afraid of him.

She let out a cold laugh and, without a second thought, raised her hand. A sharp *smack* echoed in the room as her palm connected with his devastatingly handsome face. “Let go!” she commanded, her expression unreadable.
