The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1340

Right when her lungs had given out, someone had dragged her from the darkness. A strong embrace, that comforting, masculine scent she knew so well. Gian.

She flexed her fingers slightly, trying to wake him.

Gian was sleeping so lightly that the microscopic movement snapped him awake instantly.

His head shot up. The moment his gaze locked onto her open eyes, a profound relief washed over his face, brightening the heavy shadows of exhaustion.

"Kirsten! You're awake!"

"How do you feel? Does anything hurt? Is your throat killing you? Do you want some water?"

She parted her lips to answer, but her throat was completely shredded, reducing her voice to a raspy whisper.

"I'm... okay. Did you... sleep at all?"

"I'm not tired."

Gian gave her a reassuring smile. He quickly poured a cup of lukewarm water, grabbed a sterile swab, and delicately dampened her cracked lips.

"The doctor said no chugging water right away. Let's just wet your lips for now."

Kirsten watched him fuss over her with such incredible tenderness, the sting of tears prickling the corners of her eyes.

She had never seen this side of him. He was usually so effortlessly confident, armed with a cocky grin and sarcastic banter. Yet here he was, infinitely gentle.

The quiet moment was interrupted when the hospital room door swung open.

Danielle and Alexander walked in, carrying takeout bags from a nearby cafe.

Spotting Kirsten awake, Danielle burst into fresh tears. She sprinted to the bedside, snatching up Kirsten's free hand.

"Oh my god, you're finally awake! Are you okay? You literally terrified me to death!"

"I'm okay," Kirsten promised.
