"Alexander has lost his mind. He actually moved against the Jamison family. He's trying to ruin us!"
Paula saw his state and her heart dropped. "What? What happened?!"
Danny looked up at Paula.
"Alexander gave the order. He froze all of the Jamison family's credit lines and cut off all our partnerships with the Davidsons, even the private deals. The company has no cash flow, several major projects have been forced to halt, and now the bank is suddenly calling in our loans. At this rate, the Jamison family will be bankrupt in three days!"
"What?" Paula's lips trembled.
"How could he? How could he do this? I'm his sister! Is he really that heartless, showing no mercy at all?"
She stood there stunned for a moment, then, as if possessed, she grabbed her designer handbag from the sofa and stormed towards the door.
"I'm going to see him! I'm going to confront Alexander and demand to know why he's doing this! I'm his sister, he can't be this cruel. I'm going to ask him where his conscience is!"
Danny tried to stop her, but she shoved him away.
"Don't stop me! I have to get this straight with him today! If he doesn't reverse his order, I'll take him down with me!"
Danny watched her rush out, then sank back onto the sofa, his eyes empty.
He knew, this time, they had truly lost. Utterly and completely.
Paula floored it, the car weaving recklessly through traffic, drawing stares from pedestrians.
Only one thought consumed her: find Alexander, make him reverse the order, make him give back what was hers.
At the foot of The Davidson Group's tower, security guards saw Paula charging toward the entrance and moved to intercept her.
"Ma'am, do you have an appointment? Without one, you can't go in."
"An appointment?" Paula laughed as if it were the most absurd thing she'd ever heard.
She shoved a guard, who stumbled backward.
"Get out of my way! I'm Paula, Alexander's sister! I need to see him! Who do you think you are to stop me?"
Intimidated by her fury, the guards didn't dare to block her further, instead scrambling to call the executive assistant upstairs.
Paula's high heels clicked furiously as she stormed into the elevator and slammed the button for the top floor.
The elevator ascended quickly, but to her, it felt agonizingly slow.
Her anger swelled, and she couldn't wait to get in Alexander's face and tear apart his cold, indifferent expression.
The moment the elevator doors opened, she bolted out, heading straight for Alexander's office.
The secretary stood up to block her way.
"Ms. Davidson, Mr. Davidson is in a meeting, you can't go in..."
