Chapter 639 The Baby Is Coming

“Erik, can you drive any faster?” Nan asked, impatiently, worry in her tone.

“I’m going as fast as I can given the circumstances,” Erik replied, glaring at her through the rear-view mirror. “The roads here are busy, and it’d be unsafe for me to go any faster when there’s a pregnant she-wolf in the back.”

“Okay, but this pregnant she-wolf is about to give birth to a baby in the backseat of this limo,” Nan said through her teeth. “It’d be wise if you got us to Eliza’s clinic, immediately.”

I was too numb to say anything. I only held Judy a little tighter, like I was afraid she’d slip away from me at any moment.

“Yeah… we are taking her to Eliza’s clinic right now,” Irene said into the phone that was pressed to her ear. “If you want to head there with Matt, we will be there soon.”

Once she hung up the phone, she turned to look at me.

“Should I call the Blackwell’s too?” She asked, raising her brows. “I have Selene’s number.”

I thought about it for a moment; it was probably a good idea, though I really didn’t want the Blackwells anywhere near Judy, considering two of them were the reasons this was happening in the first place. If Judy wasn’t under so much stress and using magic like she was, I doubted we’d be rushing to Eliza’s clinic right now.

But I knew that Selene and Zachary would want to know about this, so I nodded.

Irene pulled up Selene’s number before she pressed the phone to her cheek again. She started to talk in a low voice, and I drowned her out, my hold on Judy getting tighter. She had passed out almost right after she told me to take her to Eliza’s clinic instead of the hospital. My entire body was shaking, and I willed it to stop, but it wouldn’t.

I brushed a strand of damp hair out of her face. When she fell to the ground in pain, she started to sweat a lot, and her neatly done hair started to get all over the place and get moist with the sweat,

Irene finally hung up the phone and turned to me.

“They are going to meet us there,” she informed me.

I nodded as I bent down and pressed my lips to Judy’s temple, sending yet another small prayer to the Moon Goddess.

Chapter 639 The Baby Is Coming

Eliza’s clinic finally came into view, and Erik was quick to park. We didn’t wait for Erik to open the doors for us. I was already pushing through the door and carrying Judy out of the limo and towards the front doors of Eliza’s clinic.

She was already waiting for us.

“I got Nan’s text,” Eliza explained as she rushed towards us. “Get her in this room right away. I’ve called some extra medical aid, and they’ll be here any minute.”

I nodded and rushed her into the room, placing her on one of the medical beds. Judy groaned as I released her, and her eyes fluttered open for a moment.

“Our baby…” she whispered hoarsely.

I cupped her face with my hands and pressed my lips to hers, savoring her taste and basking in her warmth. I tried to remain strong for her because that’s what she needed right now. I tried to channel my strength and pass it to her through our mate bond. Though I knew she was strong on her own, we were even stronger together.

“We’re at Eliza’s clinic, just like you asked. Trust her… she’s got this,” I whispered against her lips.

She relaxed and gave me a slight nod as her eyes fluttered shut once again.

“I’m going to need some space to examine her,” Eliza said as she finished putting on her gloves. “Alpha, I’m so sorry, but I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”

“I’m not leaving my mate,” I growled.

“I know you want to protect her, but you can’t protect her from this, and I’m going to need to do things that’ll be unpleasant for you and your wolf to see, and I can’t have you interfering if you want me to save both Judy and the baby.”

I wanted to argue, but Judy let out a small groan as more blood pooled between her legs, soaking into the clean bed sheets. My chest tightened, and my wolf surged forward at the sight. I had trouble reeling him back in, and I knew at that moment that Eliza was right. I would interfere if I stayed any longer.

Without a word, I turned to Judy and pressed my lips to the side of her face once again, whispering that I loved her and that I would see her soon.

I pulled away and turned to Eliza.

“Save her,” I said through my teeth.

Eliza didn’t bat an eye; instead, she nodded with determination clear on her face.

I stepped out of the room, though it was hard for me to leave. The moment the door closed

“How is she?” Taylor asked.

“I’m not sure yet. Eliza’s examining her,” I said. “She pretty much said I’d be a liability if I stayed, and that I needed to give her space to work.”

I ran my fingers through my hair as I leaned against the wall, frustrated and worried. My wolf was on edge and was ready to take down the entire world if it meant protecting his mate.

Taylor nodded as if he understood and put a hand on my shoulder.

“Trust Eliza, she knows what she’s doing. Your mate’s not the only strong female in this pack,” Taylor told me.

I nodded, knowing that he was right.

“Yeah,” I said, running my fingers through my hair for the hundredth time. “Your mate is pretty badass. I hope she can save both my mate and son.”

“She will,” Taylor assured me, giving my shoulder another squeeze before releasing it. “The Blackwells just arrived, along with Judy’s adoptive parents. They’re in the waiting room with Nan and Irene.”

I nodded and took a deep breath before I made my way into the waiting room. Immediately, Irene was in front of me.

“How is she?” She asked. Matt stood beside her, also looking worried. I put my hand on Matt’s shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze.

“Eliza is with her now. I can’t be in there with her,” I told them. “But I trust Eliza… and she’s going to make sure Judy and the baby are okay.”

I went to a chair to sit down, unable to stand any longer.

“The girls caught us up on what had happened,” Selene said, stepping in front of me, sorrow clear in her eyes. “We are so sorry that our daughter caused all of this. We had no idea what she was planning.”

“Trust us, if we knew what she was planning, we would have put a stop to it, or at least I would have told you about it. We are business partners after all,” Zachary said, sitting beside me, “We are going to deal with this one way or another.”

I couldn’t speak; I just sat there, my heart beating rapidly against my chest. I couldn’t get the image of Judy out of my mind. She was so helpless. There was so much blood and sweat…. It was too soon for the baby to come. She was only 6 months pregnant…
