The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 558

“Honestly, I didn’t expect him to stay,” someone murmured.

“Andrea went through so much, but that day, Darin barely seemed to care. Something definitely happened between them.”

Felicia remembered how Darin had suddenly shown up at the hospital, then sent Andrea away. The whole thing felt off. The three of them were clearly tangled up in something.

“Anyway, it’s not our problem,” Felicia said.

She cut up an apple and handed a slice to Jeremy. He took it, giving her a look. Somehow, he’d got this feeling that she had something to do with all this.

Downstairs, Darin arrived just as Ava and Colton walked in. They had only gotten back this morning, still shaken after hearing what happened to Felicia and how Jeremy got hurt protecting her.

It was nearly lunchtime. Ava carried a big container of homemade food for Jeremy.

Colton spotted Darin first. “Darin!”

Darin walked over quickly. “Hi, Dad, Ava.”

Ava shot him a cool glance but didn’t say anything.

Colton asked, “Darin, what are you doing here at the hospital?”

“I came to see Jeremy. You’re here for him too?”

“Yeah. Ava and I went to a wedding last night, just got back. We heard about Felicia almost getting hurt. I still can’t believe it. Thank God everyone’s safe.”

Darin nodded. “Jeremy looks alright. I don’t think it’s too serious. Don’t worry, Dad.”

Colton let out a breath. “Did you see Felicia?”

“Yeah.”

“What did you two talk about?”

Darin’s eyes clouded over for a second. “Not much. I’ll talk to her when it feels right. Dad, you don’t need to say anything.”

Ava seemed to take that as her cue to leave, heading toward the elevators without a word.

Yvonne went silent for a second. “What accident?”

“You don’t sound too worried,” Darin said.

Yvonne’s voice got heavier. “Darin, Andrea hasn’t been eating or drinking anything all day. I’m exhausted. I can’t handle you testing me like this.”

Darin was quiet for a bit. “I’m not testing you, Mom. Just take care of Andrea. I’ve got work here. I’ll come see her when I can.”

He hung up.

For a moment, he glanced back toward Jeremy’s room, then drove off.

Inside, Colton and Ava were fussing over Jeremy, thanking him over and over as they set lunch on the table.

“Jeremy, try some of this,” Ava said. “If you like the food, I’ll bring you meals every day from now on.”

Jeremy tried a spoonful of soup and gave her a tired but genuine smile. “Ava, your cooking’s better than most restaurants.”
