The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha novel Chapter 78

Stretching his body, Adam moves his body in a slow rhythm, his face cold and unblinking. A lot of things runs through his mind, he knew what this ceremony meant and what winning would do for him. Becoming the Alpha would seal his future and Adam wanted nothing more than to be the Guerrero pack. He had it all figured out and everything was going according to his plan until Alexandra decided to take part in the ceremony.

Although Adam was scared of her, he didn't want her to deliberately lose to him. Lifting his eyes spots Alexandra leaning against the door.

"How long have you been there?"

"I just came"

"Working out yet?"

"I'm done, need not bother myself that much"

Adam smiles. "I need it"

Nodding affirmatively, Alexandra advances closer to him.

"This is the day"

"Yea it is, nervous?" He asks

"A little I mean I have to fight a lot of werewolves"

Adam halts and moves closer to her. "you don't have to be nervous. You are stronger than a lot of them out there"

"Thanks. Don't worry Adam, I still remember what we talked about"

"Is alright Alexandra"

"No is not, you are going to be the Alpha and I will help you"

"Really?"

"Of course, there is no better person to lead this pack than you" Alexandra states suppressing the urge to roll her eyes.

If for anything, Adam didn't deserve to lead the pack, he wasn't the Alpha who will the Guerrero pack to become better werewolves, he only cared about the position and not the pack, and Alexandra could see it in his eyes.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure Alexandra"

"Why do you want to be the next Alpha so badly?"

"I've always wanted to be the Alpha since I was a kid"

"Why?"

"I love leading and I have good plans for the Guerrero clan"

"What plans?"

"Only if you are my Luna would you know of such plans"

Alexandra chuckles. "But honestly what plans?"

"We lack a lot of things in this pack, I'm sure you're already aware" Adam grabs a bottle of water, cutting the lid, he gulps it down

"Yes I know, my father was one type of an Alpha"

"Our werewolves need to be like other werewolves in other packs, they need to learn new things and not be stuck up in some ancient teachings"

"Ancient teachings"

"Yes and I will do more for the pack, I will do more than anyone Alexandra"

"I believe you, Adam"

"Thanks now come here and throw punches at me"

Alexandra groans, she wasn't in a for training.

"I can't, so tired" she lies

"Come on Alexandra, are you planning on embarrassing yourself?"

"No"

"Have you ever been training?"

"I'm a werewolf, I don't need to train"

"You need it, at least know how to dodge some blows"

"I do"

"Really? When sparring with me can you dodge it?"

Alexandra gawks at him, lost for words, she was stronger than Adam Hawthorn but without her wolf, Alexandra knew it was going to be difficult to heat the Alpha or rather impossible.

"I can try Adam but you already know the deal"

Without saying a word, Adam had in mind what she was implying.

"Come on let go, try dodging a few blows"

"I'm really tired"

"Fine" Adam exhales, he didn't want to make her exhausted before the fight begins.

"Thanks" Turning around Alexandra tries to walk away when Adam holds her hand and she gazes at him, confused.

"I saw him"

"Who?"

"Him, that Alpha"

"Nathaniel"

"Yes, I saw him here when he walked in"

"I saw him as well, by now he should be with our pack members"

"Did you invite him here? How come he's here" He loosens his grip

"Why are you being inquisitive?"

"Nothing, I just wanted to know why he is here"

"There is an Alpha election ceremony taking place in the pack, does he have any other reason to be here?"

"How did he know about it? Did you invite him?"

"No I didn't and besides, news spread fast, if you can get information about his pack, why won't any other pack know about this ceremony"

"You know what, you are right"

"I don't like it when people ask obvious questions" she turns to walk away when he shoots quickly. "Can you lose in front of him?"

Alexandra looks at him. "Why can't I?"

"I was wondering"

"He may be my mate but Is a fight, there are bound to be winners as well as losers"

"Will you be alright if you lose to me?"

"Yes"

"What about him?"

"Nathaniel isn't like that, he knows the rules in games and fights"

Adam gives her a suspicious look. "You sound so sure about him"

"I know Nathaniel, maybe not like everyone else but I know the real him and the facade he puts up"

"What facade?"

"Is nothing, you should k to your training"

"I'm tired, isn't it time?"

"In thirty minutes and my father hasn't arrived so I think that's what's holding up"

"He's not the type to be late to an event, especially an important one like this one"

"You sound so sure about him"

"Your father and I are friends Alexandra"

"Well yes but you seem a lot close"

"We are and you know it"

Alexandra smiles showing her pearly white teeth. "The quicker he arrives, the faster we can get this done with"

Adam laughs, he wasn't scared at all, this could drag on and on but one thing he was certain is that he is going to be the Alpha and nothing was going to stop him.

Alexandra pauses, no one has had such faith in her in a long time.

"You are the only one"

"The only what?"

"You are the only one who keeps calling me my Alpha".

"Really? What about your sister?"

"There are a lot of things that can't be explained"

"I understand, siblings can be… em… siblings sometimes" The pack member manages to say causing Alexandra to laugh. She knows how difficult it must have been for her to say such words.

"You can do Alexandra, you can do anything"

"Thanks. Did…did my father say anything as you drove him?"

"About the ceremony?"

"Yes"

"Nothing but I got the feeling he's supporting Adam Hawthorn"

Alexandra wasn't surprised, she knew all along that Adam was her father's choice even though Adam had denied it all when she confronted him.

"Really?"

"Yes. It may have to do with gender or the fact that you have Alpha Nathaniel and he may be leaving this pack anytime soon"

"You don't have to explain, I'm not surprised"

"It means you are not bothered"

"I'm not, this ceremony means a lot to me and I just have to push harder"

The pack member applauds thrilled, she hasn't seen such an Alpha before. "You deserve to be our Alpha Alexandra. Even if it's for a short while"

"I will try but there is an opponent that may not be easy to defeat"

"Adam Hawthorn" The girl whispers and Alexandra nods, she couldn't tell her, her wolf wasn't with her but she was certainly going to give this fight her best.

"I know his weakness"

"You know his weakness"

"Yes I have seen him training with the guards so I know his fighting moves"

"You are something"

"He mostly loves to kick his opponent in their hips, leg and when he wants to throw a punch, is often an upper punch"

"Alright"

"You just have to weaken his muscles, cripple his strength angle and you can be a match up to his skill"

"He's an Alpha, a male one at that, is going to take a lot to bring him down"

"Yea but just observe his moves and work with speed"

"You sound like a coach"

"I am" The pack member smiles, glancing at her wristwatch, and trails her eyes back to Alexandra.

"I have to go"

"You are not staying for the fight"

"No, I want to be surprised. Told you I can't bear to watch you fight"

Alexandra laughs. "Thanks for the coaching"

"Anytime and break a leg, Alpha Alexandra Guerrero" The pack member turns around and leaves causing Alexandra laughs.

"Thank you" she whispers staring at her till she was out of sight, Alexandra lowers to the ground, lying on cold the ound, exhausted, and the ceiling, the thumping beat of her heart moving steadily.

"I wish you can be over already," she thinks to herself

"Look who's going to make a fool of herself"

Alexandra stiffens, and the familiar voice sounds in her ear.
