Hackett’s face turned an iron gray as he slammed the table heavily. "That wretch! She is bent on ruining us!"
Zadie also panicked. "So what do we do now? We can't just watch her destroy our family!"
Josiah narrowed his eyes, thoughtfully recalling the intimate behavior between Callahan and Leilani at the airport. "I think we shouldn't make any rash moves for now. At the very least, we need to clarify exactly what the relationship is between Leilani and Callahan, to prevent Leilani from dragging us down further."
Hackett calmed down, considering for a moment, and decided Josiah was right. As long as Yvonne hadn't fully recovered her memories, the marriage alliance with the Sherwood family couldn't be easily broken. After all, they had known the Sherwoods for years; it wouldn't come to a complete fallout.
Leilani, on the other hand, was the real problem. That rebellious daughter had always acted independently and ruthlessly, leaving no room for negotiation. If she continued to mix with the Langley family, disaster was likely.
Zadie gritted her teeth, hesitating. "So... should we go talk to Leilani?"
"Talk?" Josiah sneered, recalling Leilani’s attitude at the airport with resentment. "She has Callahan backing her now; she won't listen to us."
Hackett said deeply, "Whether she listens or not, we have to try. She is still a Sloan, after all. She can't truly want to see her own family go bankrupt, can she?"
Tamara lowered her head, her voice sounding wronged. "If she really hates us, then I'll go beg her. As long as she spares our family, I'll do anything."
Tamara’s words made everyone present even more disgusted with Leilani’s perceived willfulness. They felt they never should have acknowledged her back into the family.
Zadie hugged Tamara, heart aching. "Silly child, how is this your fault? Blame Leilani’s vicious heart!"
