The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 86

Leilani walked to the bedside and performed a routine check of his pupillary response and limb mobility, confirming everything was normal.

“Your recovery speed is fast. At this rate, you’ll be back to normal sooner or later, don’t worry.”

Arnold opened his mouth as if to speak, but only a few vague syllables came out of his throat.

Leilani glanced at him. “No need to rush. I’ve handed your rehabilitation plan to Dr. Cheney. Just follow the plan and you’ll be fine.”

Arnold nodded, a hint of gratitude in his eyes. Leilani didn’t say more and turned to leave.

After confirming Arnold’s stable condition, Leilani immediately booked a flight home for the next day. Closing her laptop, she leaned back on the sofa and exhaled gently.

The mission was smoother than expected, despite the initial intimidation. Fortunately, the mysterious employer hadn’t interfered much with the treatment. With Arnold recovering well and the handover complete, there was no need for her to stay.

Leilani picked up her phone, her finger pausing on the screen for a moment. Should she ask Callahan out for a meal? After all, he had treated her when they bumped into each other on the street last time. As a courtesy, she should return the favor.

But in the next second, Leilani realized a problem. She didn’t have his contact information at all.

Leilani frowned slightly, then found it somewhat amusing. They had shared two meals, yet neither had the other’s number. Both were usually meticulous people but had overlooked such a small detail.

On second thought, it didn’t matter. Dante’s arranged blind date would make them meet eventually after returning home. There was no need to stress over a meal.

...

Meanwhile, at the Langley Group’s Zamora branch. Callahan stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, listening to his assistant report on Arnold’s latest condition, a rare look of relief in his eyes.

“Dr. Cheney says Arnold has mostly recovered. Aside from not being able to speak and some physical weakness, his condition is like that of a normal person.” The assistant spoke respectfully. “This is all thanks to Dr. L’s treatment.”
