Tamara bit her lip, a wave of displeasure rising in her chest. This wasn't the first time. Milford had been like this constantly lately. Ever since Leilani returned and treated Yvonne, Milford's attitude toward her had become subtle. Although he was still gentle and considerate on the surface, Tamara could feel that his mind was occupied by something else.
She suppressed her emotions, keeping a sweet smile on her face as she gently placed her hand over his. "Are you tired from work? You look worried."
Tamara's large, beautiful eyes looked into Milford's with utter concern. Judging by her expression alone, no one would suspect she was acting. But could someone's acting really be this perfect?
Milford looked up at her, his gaze so deep it made Tamara's heart race. She felt a premonition that something bad was about to happen.
After a long silence, Milford suddenly spoke. "Tamara, there is something I want to ask you."
"Hmm? What is it?" Tamara tilted her head, looking at him innocently.
"Back then... the incident where Yvonne fell down the stairs... did Leilani really do it?"
Tamara's smile froze instantly. Her breath hitched. Her fingers trembled violently, nearly knocking over her water glass. Her heart pounded, blood rushing in her ears.
Why would Milford ask this suddenly? Had Yvonne recovered her memory? Or had Leilani told him something?
Tamara pinched her thigh hard. Milford hadn't been specific. She couldn't panic yet. She quickly adjusted her expression, her eyes reddening instantly, her voice trembling with disbelief. "Milford... why, why would you ask that? Did... did my sister say something to you?"
