Honestly, if Dustin had actually tried something like that in the cemetery, Maggie probably would have risen from the grave out of sheer fury.
A flicker of sarcasm crossed Romina's eyes before vanishing. She leaned against Dustin's shoulder, her soft voice laced with concern. "Ethan's been stubborn since he was a child, you know that. Besides..."
She gently poked his chest. "The more he acts out, the more it highlights how sensible our Asher is, don't you think?"
The mention of his younger son softened Dustin's expression slightly.
But then, Romina's thoughts returned to the girl who had been with Ethan. Her eyes glinted with uncertainty.
"By the way..." she began, her tone probing, "did you recognize that girl with Ethan? For him to bring her to see his mother and grandmother on a day like this... could she be his girlfriend?"
She knew Ethan's personality well. He wouldn't bring just anyone to that place on such a significant day. She recalled that while the girl hadn't been carrying any designer bags, she had an air about her that didn't seem ordinary. If Ethan had a girlfriend with that kind of character, it could be a threat to her.
"Girlfriend?" Dustin's brow furrowed in displeasure. The term annoyed him, as he had plans to marry Ethan off to a hand-picked heiress from a prominent family. If this girl was really his girlfriend, it would completely derail his plans.
"She didn't exactly look like she came from high society," Dustin said with disdain, trying to recall the girl he had barely noticed. "Dressed so plainly, not even a decent bag. Probably from some average family."
