The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 523

Questions fired from Callahan's mouth like artillery shells.

"Where is Leilani? What time did she leave the house? How did she travel?"

Yvonne was utterly stunned by the rapid-fire interrogation, her confusion multiplying by the second.

"Leilani?" she asked, blinking. "Didn't she go to your company's gala?"

Yvonne glanced up at the wall clock. "She changed into her gown and finished her makeup this afternoon. She left the apartment a little after three o'clock. Realistically speaking, she should have arrived ages ago..."

Hearing those words caused the probability of a kidnapping to skyrocket. Callahan's face instantly turned ashen, his jaw tight enough to crack. "She never made it to the gala."

Yvonne's eyes went wide with shock. "How is that possible? She left so early!"

Then, as if a horrific realization suddenly hit her, Yvonne's voice began to tremble uncontrollably. "Did... did something happen to Leilani?"

Could it be Tamara causing trouble again?

Callahan didn't even bother answering her. He spun on his heel and stormed out of the apartment.

Once he was back on the road, the Maybach tore down the streets, the glowing city neon blurring into streaks of light against the windows.

Steering with one hand, Callahan used the other to dial Judie's number.

The call was picked up almost immediately, and Judie's voice filtered through the speaker, thick with surprise. "Callahan?"

Judie found it incredibly odd. Shouldn't he be busy hosting the Langley Group gala right now? Why was he randomly calling her?

"Has Leilani contacted you at all today?"

Callahan didn't reply. He ended the call in stony silence and slammed his foot entirely down on the gas pedal.

Callahan's chilling phone call sent both Yvonne and Judie spiraling into terror. Judie immediately drove straight to Yvonne to demand if she knew anything else.

The second Yvonne opened the door and saw Judie, she grabbed her friend's hand like a lifeline. Her voice cracked, bordering on a sob as the overwhelming dread finally swallowed her whole. "Judie, did Mr. Langley go look for Leilani too?"

Judie nodded grimly.

"Do you have any idea who might have taken her?" Yvonne asked, her anxiety peaking.

"I honestly don't know," Judie whispered.

"Oh my God, I hope to God she's alright..."
