"Sorry, Leilani! I was just too excited to see you back," Judie apologized. "I didn't mean to."
Leilani shook her head in amusement. She was already used to Judie's boisterous nature and had no intention of holding it against her.
Seeing that Leilani wasn't upset, Judie eagerly pulled both Leilani and Yvonne down onto the sofa, intentionally drawing out the suspense. "Guess who I saw at 'Nightfall' yesterday?"
Leilani calmly set down her coffee cup. "Who?"
Yvonne also leaned in, looking at Judie with curiosity.
"Clive!" Judie lowered her voice, a mysterious glint in her eyes. "Your brother, Clive!"
Hearing his name, Yvonne looked completely baffled. "Clive? Isn't he a celebrity? It's pretty normal for him to go to a club like 'Nightfall', isn't it?"
Judie raised an eyebrow meaningfully. "That's debatable... He's no longer a celebrity."
Leilani's fingers paused, and she also cast a questioning glance at Judie. She had spent the entire time in Garrison City fully occupied with curing Payton's poison, leaving her no leisure time to catch up on entertainment gossip. Therefore, she was completely unaware that Clive's contract had been terminated and that he was currently facing massive public backlash online.
As for Yvonne, ever since she recovered her memories, she had been buried in her computer science studies and didn't care much for entertainment news either.
Judie shot them both a look of utter disappointment. Out of the three of them, was she seriously the only one dedicated to keeping up with the drama?
Judie animatedly gestured as she continued her story. "Word on the street is that Clive drank seven or eight glasses that night."
At a hundred thousand a glass, seven or eight glasses meant he raked in seven or eight hundred thousand in a single night. In Judie's eyes, if Clive kept this up and firmly latched onto Winifred, paying off his breach-of-contract penalties would be a breeze.
Yvonne looked distressed, her face painted with disbelief. "Judie, are you absolutely sure it was Clive?"
This was Clive they were talking about! The young, famous, and overwhelmingly arrogant Clive was actually acting as a paid companion? And he hadn't even thrown a tantrum, but just obediently swallowed his pride? It sounded completely surreal.
Judie scoffed. "He offended the wrong people and absolutely refused to apologize. His company had been planning to drop him for a while now. On top of that, rumor has it that the Sloan Group's capital chain has completely broken down. They're drowning in debt and can't even afford to clean up his mess anymore. Driven into a corner with no other options, this was the only line of work he could fall back on."
