The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 485

Payton didn't ask about her research progress or mention the cure. He simply pushed a cup of coffee toward her. "It's gone a bit cold. Mind yourself."

The coffee was indeed cold; the ceramic cup had lost all warmth, suggesting he had poured it quite a while ago and had been waiting for her.

Leilani picked up the cup, the chill from the porcelain stinging her fingertips. A seed of doubt sprouted in her mind. Had Payton sensed something? She knew her state of mind was fragile today, but she was usually excellent at masking it. Could he really hear the distress in her footsteps?

She said nothing, silently drinking the cold, bitter brew.

"This pendant... Paulina left it for you," Payton began slowly, his voice low and grave. "There is a secret hidden inside it."

Leilani's heart skipped a beat. "What secret?"

Payton handed the pendant to her. "I should have told you sooner. On the inner rim of the pendant, there is a string of numbers carved. Those numbers are actually coordinates to a mysterious region in Northern Myanor."

Leilani took the pendant. She had given this heirloom to Payton for safekeeping on the day they first reconnected. She had planned to ask for it back before leaving, but he was returning it now.
