The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 478

Clive fished out a pack of cigarettes, clamped one between his teeth, and lit it. The crimson ember glowed and faded in the night, reflecting the darkness in his eyes.

What Clive didn’t see was Winifred standing behind the floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor of the villa. Watching his retreating figure, a meaningful smile played on her lips.

“Interesting,” she murmured. “First time I’ve seen a young stud with such a stubborn streak.”

...

The next day, in the CEO’s office at Glitz Entertainment.

Magnus leaned back in his genuine leather chair, a cigar clamped between his fingers, surrounded by swirling smoke.

The silence of the office was broken by the ringing of his phone. Magnus narrowed his eyes at the caller ID.

Winifred? This early? Why would she be calling him at this hour?

A report from Luke about the previous night’s events flashed through his mind. A knowing smile curled Magnus’s lips as he pressed the answer button, offering a polite greeting. “Winifred, good morning. Calling so early?”

On the other end, Winifred’s voice was lazy but laced with satisfaction. “Mr. Judson, did you sleep well last night?”

Magnus blew out a smoke ring and chuckled. “Thanks to you, I slept quite well.”

“How could he?” Winifred took a sip of red wine, her tone playful. “He’s much more interesting than I imagined.”

She recalled how Clive had tried to force himself to be calm despite his obvious nervousness. A flash of excitement crossed her eyes. “Besides, you can’t eat a delicious meal in one bite. You have to chew slowly and savor it. Though, it was quite funny—when he showed up, he was clearly scared to death, yet he still insisted on ‘selling art, not body’. That kind of stubbornness is rare. I like a hard bone to chew on.”

After all, if they were too docile, there was no fun in playing with them, was there?

Magnus heard this and secretly rejoiced, quickly agreeing. “Absolutely! Our Clive is famous for having a backbone.”

He rolled his eyes and lowered his voice conspiratorially. “But don’t worry. Just ‘discipline’ him a few times, and he’ll definitely become obedient.”
