The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 397

Seeing Letty genuinely angry, Talbot waved his hands frantically. "I absolutely didn't mean that!"

He turned to his wife, signaling her urgently with his eyes. "Reese, apologize to Ms. Sloan immediately. She had good intentions; don't let them go to waste."

Reese was suppressing a bellyful of rage, but under the pressure of Dante's presence and her husband's glare, she forced out a stiff apology. "Ms. Sloan, I'm sorry. I misspoke just now."

Leilani smiled gently. "You're taking it too seriously, Reese. I'm partly to blame as well. I didn't consider your personal preferences before giving the gifts. It's only human nature to dislike what you don't care for."

Her tone was peaceful, but her words hid a needle in the cotton. "After all, with medicinal ingredients, only those who understand them know their true value. Next time I visit, I'll bring something else to make up for it."

These weren't generic items; they were rare, precious herbs Leilani had painstakingly collected, and the herbal wine was her own custom formulation. The medicinal efficacy was something money couldn't buy elsewhere. Since they didn't appreciate the goods, Leilani wasn't about to let her hard work be trampled on. Leaving everything to Letty and Dante was actually the better outcome.

Reese's face stiffened, her fingernails digging into her palms.

That uneducated little brat! She had already apologized, yet Leilani still refused to let it go? Instead of taking the out Talbot provided, she was insinuating that Reese lacked the sophistication to understand the gift's value.

Seeing that it was getting late, Letty summoned Jarvis, the butler, and had him gather all the gift boxes originally designated for Talbot's family.

"Leilani, since they don't like them, Dad and I will gladly accept these treasures," Letty said cheerfully. "We wouldn't want to waste your kind heart."
