The old man took the prescription, examined it closely, and suddenly looked up. "Dr. Sloan, why did you add 'Snow Reishi'?"
Leilani smiled faintly. "Snow Reishi opens the heart meridians and clears stagnation. It is most suitable for your current symptoms."
The old man stared at her for a long time before letting out a long sigh. "Truly, the younger generation is impressive..."
After sending off Hale and his grandfather, several more patients came to the Pure-Spring Clinic one after another.
Leilani attended to them one by one and didn't have a moment to rest until evening. She rubbed her sore shoulders, and just as she was about to close up, her phone rang. It was a video call from Callahan.
The corners of her lips curled up involuntarily as she answered.
The man’s handsomely flawless face immediately appeared on the screen. He seemed to be in a hotel room, with a bustling city nightscape visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows behind him.
"Finished with work?" Callahan’s low voice came through the speaker, carrying a lazy magnetism.
Leilani leaned back in her chair and gave a languid hum. "Just saw off the last patient."
Callahan stared at her for a few seconds, then frowned. "Why do you look so pale? Did you skip meals again?"
Since getting together with Leilani, Callahan had figured out her work habits. For instance, once Leilani got busy, she easily forgot to eat.
He had only been away on a business trip for a few days, but her cheeks, which had filled out nicely thanks to Dante's daily soups, already looked visibly sharper on camera.
Leilani fell silent. He wasn't wrong. The Pure-Spring Clinic had an unusually high number of visitors today. She had been busy from morning until now, having eaten only breakfast.
Leilani coughed lightly, trying to change the subject. "There were just a lot of patients at the clinic today... I forgot for a moment."
Callahan saw through her attempt to deflect. He scolded her gently but didn't press further, changing the subject instead. "I’m almost done with things here. I might be able to come back in a while."
