Leilani flipped through the file and sneered. "I knew it was her!"
After all, aside from Tamara, Leilani hadn't offended anyone to the point where they would want her dead.
Callahan held the steering wheel with one hand and glanced sideways at her. "Now that you have the evidence, what do you want to do?"
Leilani looked up toward the distant spire of the church. She remembered that today was the day Tamara and Milford were getting married.
Tamara wanted to kill her and Yvonne so she could live the life of a young mistress of the Sherwood family...
Leilani wasn't going to let her have her way!
"Today is their wedding day. We're going straight to the venue to expose her."
She wanted to see how the Sherwood family would react when the truth was revealed right in front of them.
The car sped away, tires rolling over the damp asphalt and splashing water.
Soon, the black Maybach stopped at the entrance of Tamara's wedding venue.
Leilani pushed the door open. Just as she was about to get out, her wrist was grabbed by Callahan.
"I'll go in with you."
His voice was low, carrying a dominance that allowed no refusal.
Leilani looked back at him and shook her head gently. "No."
Callahan narrowed his eyes. "Why?"
Leilani hesitated. She knew her reason was a bit difficult to admit. "I don't think it's the right time to go public with our relationship yet. You've met the Sloans. You know what they're like. If they find out I'm with you, there's no telling what kind of drama they'll stir up."
Callahan's eyes darkened slightly. His thumb rubbed the inside of her wrist. For a moment, he didn't know what to say. Of course, he had seen the nature of the Sloan family, and he understood why Leilani reacted this way. Still, being kept a secret didn't feel good.
