The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 238

Leilani straightened her posture, feeling a wave of embarrassment. "...Did I fall asleep?"

Callahan chuckled softly. "Yeah. You were out cold."

Leilani rubbed her eyes and looked at the credits rolling on the big screen, feeling annoyed with herself. "I'm sorry. I didn't expect to pass out like that. I wasted your ticket."

Callahan was incredibly busy, yet he had carved out time specifically to accompany her, and she had slept through it.

But he didn't seem to mind. He stood up and grabbed her coat for her, his tone casual. "It's fine. You can just make it up to me next time."

Leilani looked up at him. "How?"

He looked down at her, a hint of a smile playing in his eyes. "Next time... stay awake and watch the whole thing with me."

Leilani paused, then laughed lightly, nodding seriously. "Deal."

With Arnold's condition stable and Mr. Chilton under Floyd's supervision, Leilani finally had a free afternoon the next day. She drove to a high-end shopping mall downtown. Since she had spoiled the movie date yesterday, she wanted to buy Callahan a gift to apologize.

Leilani entered the mall and headed straight for the luxury boutiques on the third floor. However, as she approached a specific store, she noticed something was off.

The shop was empty, as if it had been cleared out. The glass doors were shut, and two men in black suits stood guard. Seeing Leilani approach, they immediately raised their hands to stop her.

"Apologies, Miss. We aren't open to the public right now."

Leilani raised an eyebrow. "When will you reopen?"

"We aren't sure," the bodyguard replied emotionlessly.

Leilani wasn't one to argue. She nodded and turned to leave. There were plenty of other stores in the mall. But she had only taken a few steps when a voice called out from behind her.
