The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 200

The security guard remembered Leilani very well; her relationship with Callahan, the CEO of the Langley Group, was no secret. The last time security had accidentally let Clive and Tamara in, Callahan had docked the entire security team two months' wages.

Thinking back to that penalty, the guard’s chest tightened.

The property manager looked at the police and the mess around Leilani's door. He understood exactly what was happening. His brow furrowed. He didn't try to deflect responsibility. Instead, he looked serious as he apologized to Leilani and stated the management’s position.

"Ms. Sloan, I hope you weren't hurt. We don't know how that intruder bypassed security to get in here. This was a serious oversight on our part. Please rest assured, if you have suffered any physical or emotional trauma, we will cover all medical expenses."

"We will also fully cooperate with the police investigation. Going forward, we will strengthen the security protocols for the complex. I promise you, this will not happen a second time."

Faced with the manager's apology and promises, Leilani appeared perfectly composed. There was no visible anger or dissatisfaction on her face.

"We can discuss compensation later," she said. "The most urgent thing right now is to check the surveillance footage and see if we can find any leads. I suspect this wasn't just a simple thief looking to steal money. He had a different, undisclosed motive."

Since he had already promised full cooperation, the property manager didn't waste time with empty words. He moved quickly, leading them to the surveillance room.

Inside the room, the police and Leilani stared at the screens with furrowed brows.

"This guy knows the blind spots. From the underground garage to the elevator, he kept his head down the entire time. The only shot we have is of his back, and he’s wrapped up in a coat."
