The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 148

"Well, to each their own," he shook his head, mumbling, "Just a pity to miss such a good opportunity..."

Leilani didn't reply. She silently took out her phone. The screen still showed no new messages.

As the scenery blurred past the window, Leilani watched the brightening sky in the distance, her thoughts drifting to Callahan. Why was he in such a hurry to find her?

Marlon turned the steering wheel, entering the main road. "Should I take you home to rest?"

"Mmh." Leilani closed her eyes, but the image of the pendant Paulina left for her flashed in her mind.

They had been in a rush to get to Brass City, so they had flown. Since there was no rush to return, Marlon drove back to Alloy City. The distance wasn't far, but by the time they arrived, it was already ten in the morning, approaching noon.

Leilani sat in Marlon's car, tapping her fingers lightly against the window edge. Seeing the route heading toward Celestial Heights, she spoke up to stop Marlon. "Don't take me straight to Celestial Heights yet."

Marlon glanced at her in the rearview mirror, surprised. "You're not going home?"

"Go to the City General Hospital first. I need to look up some information there."

It was still early, over an hour before the hospital staff got off work. She hadn't notified Yvonne or Hale about her return yet, so there was nothing to do at home. Since her break in the Capital was short, she had to make the most of her time for research.

Marlon nodded and turned the wheel toward the City General Hospital.
