Early the next morning, Leilani arrived at Pure-Spring Clinic to open for business.
The clinic was located on a downtown commercial street. The storefront wasn't large, and the decor was simple and rustic, making it look a bit out of place amidst the surrounding modern shops.
Many passersby cast curious glances, but few actually came in. In most people's eyes, a clinic specializing in traditional methods should have an old doctor with white hair sitting inside, not a young, beautiful woman like her. Furthermore, Pure-Spring Clinic was newly renovated. It didn't have the weathered look of an established practice.
Leilani didn't mind. Her primary income came from taking jobs on the dark web and solving complex medical issues for the wealthy. Each of those commissions brought in a significant sum. The walk-in traffic was just leaving things to fate.
She followed her routine: organizing herbs, checking the cabinets, and glancing at the security monitor.
A tall figure caught her attention. It was a very handsome young man with deep, sculpted features that suggested mixed heritage. He was built like an athlete but dressed in a casual suit. He was pacing back and forth in front of the clinic, looking indecisive. He seemed to be debating whether to enter.
Leilani raised an eyebrow, put down the herbs, and pushed the door open. "Hello. Are you here to see a doctor?"
She stood on the steps in her white coat, tall and poised, her gaze calm.
The man jumped at the sudden voice. When he looked up and saw Leilani clearly, a flash of appreciation crossed his eyes, quickly replaced by doubt. He stared at her white coat with obvious skepticism. "You... you're the doctor here?"
He looked her up and down, frowning. "So young?"
