ISLA
Zero dropped us off at school before he went to his work.
“See you,” I said and gave a peck on his lips, making Becca complain.
“Geez, people,” Becca exclaimed as she got off the car.
I shook my head and smiled after. Zero met my gaze and leaned forward as he gave me one more peck on the lips. “Bye, baby. Study well. No boys,” he uttered and winked at me.
I smiled. “Of course, Sir. Uhm, check on Nana before you start working, okay?” I glanced at my wristwatch, “I have class at eight-thirty,” I said.
“No problem, baby. See you. Text me, and I’ll pick you up,” he said. However, I shook my head.
“No. It’s fine. We’ll take the cab—”
“Call the driver then,” he interrupted, making me smile.
“Baby… we’ll be safe. Besides, I know you’ve secured the area already, am I right?”
Zero pressed his lips and rested his left hand on the steering wheel. “What do you think?”
I smirked and got off the car. I waved goodbye before closing the car door.
“Seriously?”
I turned to Becca when I heard her voice. I arched my brow. “What?”
“Zero and you are being corny—that made me want to puke—”
“Oh, shut up, Becca,” I uttered and started to walk my way to our first class.
“Anyway, Troy still keeps on pestering you?” Becca asked as she equaled my pace.
I heaved a deep sigh and nodded.
“Geez. It would be best if you told him that you’re taken—that you have Zero—” she didn’t finish her words when I cut in.
“I even told him that I have a husband and a daughter,” I replied and turned to the left.
“Then why can’t he stop pestering you?”
I sighed again. “Because he doesn’t believe it.”
“What?!” The surprise and irritation are visible in Becca’s voice. “Is he stupid? What the fuck was wrong with that guy.”
“Yeah. That’s why I’m doing my best to ignore him.”
“Tell it to Zero—”
“No. I don’t want any issues. Zero and I talked about our relationship and want it hidden in the meantime,” I said and glanced at Becca.
Becca rolled her eyes and snorted. “If that Troy is going to pester you again, I can’t promise that I’ll be silent like I used to be in the last two months here, Isla.”
I just nodded.
At exactly eight-thirty, our professor went in and started to check our attendance. I raised my hand when she called me and said, “Present.” Then suddenly, I met Troy’s nympho eyes. I saw how he looked at me from head to toe and crept a sly smirk on his lips. I averted my gaze and looked at Becca, whom I presume is staring at me.
Becca’s eyes landed on Troy’s side. The man is just a few distances between us and chooses to stay at the back.
I reached for Becca’s hand and tried to calm her down. “Ignore him. He will not stop if you’re giving him attention,” I said as I looked in front.
Becca heaved a deep sigh which made me glance at her side.
“That jerk,” she mumbled and gritted her teeth.
I shook my head and wanted to laugh because of Becca’s behavior. But no one can blame her since that Troy is really annoying.
After the roll call, the professor started to discuss some things that would be present in our mid-terms. And all I did was take down notes. However, I couldn’t feel at ease because I could feel the sharp gaze of that person. No one can ever give me that kind of feeling except Troy Angelo.
Now, I regretted that I didn’t listen to Becca’s suggestion—that we need to take the other block so that we will differ in schedule with that Troy.
It’s been three months since we started the second year. There’s no problem until Troy gets in touch with us in the first week. He’s one week late with the registration. We all have the same schedule and block for this semester, and I don’t know why he got special treatment—he’s one week late, then he should be at the last block.
I sighed and continued ignoring Troy until the professor dismissed us. I didn’t stand for a moment, so as Becca. We waited for the other students to get out. However, when Becca saw Troy, who was also sitting in his place, waiting… she grabbed me in the arm and stepped out of the room.
“Move faster. We need to get to the next class before he and his goons corner us,” Becca said.
I nodded, and we almost ran into the hallway. And after a few seconds, I heard my name.
“Shit!” Becca cursed and dragged me by the arm as she walked faster. “Let’s better run,” she added, and we did.
“Isla!”
I tapped my screen, input the password, and then showed it. “And this is my husband,” I said.
And one moment, Troy didn’t react fast. Instead, I saw how his eyes widened.
“Surprised?” It was Becca, who was now smirking. “And I am her husband’s cousin. So, back off Troy Angelo!” she added.
I drew back my phone and seized the opportunity to turn my back away from him.
Troy’s silence made me happy. Becca, catch up. “That’s better,” she said.
“And I’m doomed,” I replied. If Zero finds out about this, I don’t know what he’s going to do. He told me not to tell it to the public yet.
“Come on. That was just Troy, and you knew man’s ego. Do you think he will spread it out?” Becca asked, which made me shrug my shoulder.
“I don’t know.”
“Well, so what if the world will know about it? Then much better,” Becca concluded.
I smiled. “However, isn’t it too early? I mean, it’s not that I’m happy that it will be exposed, but I’m concerned about what will people—”
“Don’t mind the others. What matters is you and your family. Besides, even I want to expose that Apollo is mine,” Becca answered, which made me laugh.
“Geez, you really can’t help but mention Apollo, huh? I thought you don’t like a man like Apollo?”
Becca stopped me and frowned as our gazes met. “When did I say that I don’t like him? If you’re obsessed with Zero—”
“You are too, with Apollo?” I cut off the hum of her words.
She nodded and bit her lower lip. “Exactly.”
I let out a soft chuckle. “Damn, girl. Zero and I were right all along. It was your moans that we’re hearing in the middle of the night—”
“What?!”
I burst out in laughter. “I mean those nights that you stayed at our house. Not at this point since you’re living at the condo,” I said. I pressed my lips and glanced at her.
She rolled her eyes at me. “Whatever. How about you? Don’t tell me that we’re going to expect a little Zero or Isla?”
My forehead creased, and I frowned at her. “I’m on breastfeeding pills right now. So, even if we fuck each other all night—”
“Geez… stop it,” Becca interrupted, which made me shake my head.
